There are 14 top-levels in a row with the exact same preferences, (only shipping preferences, defying the meme's instructions to describe something) so it's a safe bet they're from the same player. Can we have a rule to prevent massive musedumps like this? Maybe something like "No more than X top-levels from the same player per meme"?

no. it's one thing that they weren't paying attention to the rules of the meme. that should earn them having their top levels deleted by the meme poster. but what world do you live in where you think you get to suddenly put an arbitrary number of characters someone can put in a meme. the only reason it's visible is because it's all in one clump, aka, the dump. nothing's to stop them from scattering the same chars through other pages of a larger meme. nothing is stopping you or anyone else from posting any of those characters. they aren't taking up 'spots'. musedumping is one of those things that's always been a thing on bs and any meme comm, and there isn't and shouldn't be any rules against that. that's cutting lines too fine and then we get into mecha sosa levels of meme gatekeeping and patrolling and it's stupid. you have the option to musedump as well. you can also just ignore them. you don't have to play with them. them posting or not posting won't change the meme or anything about it.

seriously rethink that notion. (i'm also the one who replied on wg when you posted there and brought up that 14 isn't as bad as it used to be with other players that used to musedump 30+ chars. there are other m/m only players that do this. there are m/f female char players that do this. this is just the one doing it now. get over it)

that's actually a terrible solution. almost everyone has an account on bs or the ability to get an account on bs (it's open joining and it's not a game) and they can still link a 'locked' meme post to wg, like they do with any game comm that's locked. it'll just not be viewable unless you open it with an account that's on bakerstreet. this is teetering awfully close to locking the comm down in a way that negates its actual purpose. it's an open community. there's nothing against the tos or wg rules against linking posts/threads. they just can't copy/paste or screenshot them. anyone can still follow a link.

please stop giving a shit about what wg and rpa do in terms of this comm. this sounds like some kind of response to people mocking the mod post earlier and it's an overreaction on your part if that's the case. you're trying to make the comm less accessible just because some people on wg like to point and laugh. they'll do that anyway. they'll just point and laugh louder and keep linking the harder you try to make it 'private'.

Hi — I'm more and more confused about when and why certain rules are enforced. If this week's posting time of the text picture prompt meme was a problem, why wasn't it removed? Instead you've opted to delete the meme whose poster played by the rules and put it up in the proper time slot. Whether one meme did and the other didn't (yet) have more than top levels shouldn't matter, because the rule of posting times wasn't built around immediate meme response rate.

Secondly, the texting picture prompt meme and the general picture prompt meme aren't really like for like. They both accept prompts, but they're completely different animals and serve a different playerbase (those who'd like an easier, faster-moving thread style versus people who want to play out prose threads).

It's becoming hard to understand how you (mods) decide to delete memes or introduce new rules, and it's gradually a deterrent from posting memes (which can be randomly deleted) or tagging into memes (which, you've guessed it, can be randomly deleted). I appreciate that if I don't like how things are, I can take my toys and go, but I'd like to at least try to flag the issue first.

Re: texting and picture prompt memes - they have been taken as similar memes in the past, and so will be considered similar memes. Usually, one goes up and not the other. (And even so, having both go up a day apart is a bit much, even given how the shipping version has been pushed up to monday?)

There have been times when picture prompt memes go up in quick succession, a recent case being the reverse smut prompt meme and the another of the picture prompt together. That's because the reverse meme has been given a go ahead of a once a month posting regardless of what's on the comm, from what I know.

And in this case - while the texting picture prompt meme was seen and flagged earlier - I think that the texting version of the meme hasn't been up in a while, as well as having a number of comments and play already. (I'm not sure when it was tagged as an early meme, since it was already there when I first saw it, if anyone wants to add anything.)

In future, a possible solution may be to ask for a specific from of the meme to go up rather, than putting things up early.

That said, I personally, would not be adverse to taking down early posted memes if they're caught fast enough.
