To consider - rotating out texting memes with each other more often (too much scheduling? too little?), or having options re: misfires/texting mishaps/etc explicitly stated in the text - though nothing says they couldn't be played that way regardless.

as per the meme itself:
the phone sex +
sexting meme

what it says on the tin. leave a blank comment, include your preferences or a starter, it's all good. reply to others with a text, a dirty picture (please link all nsfw things!), misfires, misdials, drunk filthy voicemails, whatever your heart desires.

most of the memes for texting already allow for mistexts/dials and have since they started. there is literally no reason to have a misdial only meme, especially on the actual day of the texting meme being posted. there's usually a secondary meme that comes up (love letters/shipping meme) that is another texting type meme that slides under the radar, but all in all there's already 3 scheduled text memes with all allowances for misdials.

it's not just that, though. it's the pushing of the same type/same memes being posted either because someone's not actually reading the memes up or just not caring. or spite. the tap that/date that/rate that theme over the weekend was a notable example, especially after the one that was brought here got deleted for being too similar/posted too soon and the very next day someone posted the same meme.

i'm usually pretty lax with what gets posted/accepted and talking about scrolling, but it's also just feeding into the spite posting, or what feels like spite posting. i don't vote for queuing or moderated posting, but i think some of the posters doing it out of spite/posting around the rules suck. i know it sucks more for the people posting in the meme that suddenly have their stuff go away if it gets deleted, but i don't know what else to say. the scheduled memes are fine and it just feels like people either haven't read the rules, don't read the comm, or are being spiteful for the sake of it. it's getting brought up a lot on the anon comms over people talking about the flood of same meme types and how noticeable it is, so i figured i'd actually bring it up here instead of just venting on anon comms. it's why i suggested a mod post.

I can rephrase the rules in a post again, re: similar memes, and their consequences. The rule as posted can be misinterpreted to mean the exact meme, not similar meme types.

To quote:
☞ Do not repost a meme that is less than two weeks old! (rule edited on May 5, 2019) Scheduled memes are an exception. For any other meme, please check the latest Round Up and do not post anything that appears on it.

Adding: Following previous timelines, a week's allowance between memes that alternate type (one line ship prompts vs one line smut prompts) is a time gap that has been good in the past.

And yes, bringing it up in one of the mod posts will be the best way to bring it to our attention.

On another note from looking through the comm:
I'm seeing trends of specificity over blanket themes because I guess that's what the poster wants to see played at the moment. ie. Opposite attract shipping vs big and tall, good and bad, etc, general kissing vs specific instances of kissing, or the generic version of the picture prompt meme which sometimes gets switched to a texting version, (as it's currently up), even when texting is mentioned in the guidelines.

TFLN has been dropping the guidelines altogether, assuming everyone who plays already knows what the meme's about and what can be played.

https://bakerstreet.dreamwidth.org/7808958.html - today

just to note that this went up today, tuesday, on the same day there's already the sexting meme up again. it's also the same poster (i went back and rechecked the last misfire meme). a mod speaking to them about making sure of the timing of it would be better than a rando commenting to them. even just waiting until late weds or thurs or something. sexts on tues, tfln on fri, gen on sun. they want a misfire specific meme which hey, i get? but just not on the same day of one of the already 3 posted memes.
