A week's time sounds about right - IIRC we just ask posters to switch up the format between anon-enabled versions and not.

I can't speak with regards to meme posting on fortanon, but the crossposting rule is for multiple memes included in one post (to a maximum of two), not a limit on how many crossposts can be posted per day to the comm.

Anon is a popular format, for various reasons, and as long as the memes aren't breaking any rules on bakerstreet, they would be okay to go up.

If the frustration is caused in part by memes you would like to see playable by non-anon journals/not in an anonymised setting, you can try reaching out to the posters to see if they'll switch it for some of those memes.

i think it would be one thing if they'd double post? like, hosting a meme on top level is clearly available for top level, but hosting it on anon when it's not necessarily an anon specific meme, just being pulled over there, feels like an attempt to drag people off bakerstreet. i don't play on fort anon. i don't like anon aspects (ironic, considering i'm anon now, i know), but taking memes that aren't supposed to be anon specific (and some are curated specifically for anon only) and posting them only on fort anon, particularly in the sudden uptick of numbers lately (three on the 7th, two yesterday, who knows how many today) feels... specific. and it takes that meme away from being used on the comm they're crossposting it to (bkst) for two weeks. so it's either play anon or don't play. add in that with the types of posters opting to intentionally bother people with things like posting times/places, it would be more fair to be able to play a meme posted on bkst ON bkst.

they disable the comments so people can't even play it here anyway. i'm here to play on this comm and it's getting to be a pain in the ass that it's starting to feel like i can't. i don't want to scramble to post the first second of the 2 weeks being up just to maybe get the chance to post/play here.

one crossposted meme per comm has always felt like an unspoken rule. it didn't used to be a problem when it was one fort anon meme a day. because it rarely used to be 'one a day', it used to be 'one every few days'. now, it's too much and it's limiting what people here can play. it's becoming a problem. please discuss this with the other mods.

hey, I was thinking back to an old favorite meme from the lj days, and was wondering if it would be okay to post it here since there hasn't been anything like it recently on bakerstreet (from what I've seen, but I might have missed something).

the meme in question is the ol' body horror meme (https://memebells.livejournal.com/284043.html) - if it's okay to bring it to bakersteet would it be fine to just copy/paste the meme over, or should it be revised/edited/updated before posting?

It's fine to repost - just please use a cut for sensitive topics/lengthier posts. A quick scan makes me think the "mummy's curse" link is no longer functional.

(It looks like it has been posted at bakerstreet sometime in the past, though there wasn't a direct link so that would require digging.)

Not a problem, just a question!

I was wondering if I'd be allowed to repost a meme and break the two-week rule since, when I posted it, I believe the instructions were too vague and people didn't seem to understand the goal was meant to be OOC and not IC. When I first created it, the response seemed positive, and people appear to be currently tagging the old post (from June) rather than the new one.

https://bakerstreet.dreamwidth.org/7876479.html?page=3#comments vs https://bakerstreet.dreamwidth.org/8337337.html

If I were allowed to repost it, I'd add a form/template that makes it clear that this is meant to be OOC.

But no worries if not!

Please do wait, especially if you're going to just rework the current meme and post.

The older version was linked in the comments, and people have been clicking through and participating there.

I can see that it's an alternative to the Rp love memes, (see [community profile] rplove) that that runs on it's own comm and schedule now.

[personal profile] parrygripp 2022-12-12 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Can do!

Yes, I'm planning on reworking it, so holding off makes sense. Thanks for getting back to me!

(Anonymous) 2022-12-16 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
is this allowed?

https://bakerstreet.dreamwidth.org/8353543.html?thread=3604949255#cmt3604949255

i know this is the ass meme, but shouldn't a nsfw image like this be behind a link?

(Anonymous) 2022-12-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, this is allowed. the only images that need to be behind links are gifs/images in the body of the post of the meme. not images themselves. you're in a meme about butts. if you don't want to potentially see gifs/images of butts, don't open a meme about butts in a place that it would bother you/people around you.

most image memes allow for images to be shown. they do not have to be cut/warned for unless it's triggery content itself. (or unless the thread starter asks for pics to be linked)

fwiw, it's a cartoon ass. covered. with a tail. i personally wouldn't qualify that as a nsfw pic. i wouldn't qualify a pic of a clothed la ass from a bent over person to be considered nsfw either. i don't see you complaining about the outline of a rather large dick under pants as a guy's walking in the size queen meme. if this shocks you, meme life might not be for you.

[personal profile] thelongcon 2022-12-16 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, as the other anon has said.

Nsfw images in meme threads are always a possibility, especially in memes that include nsfw topics. And while you can ask taggers to link images to you, that doesn't mean other players in the same thread will choose to do the same.

I doubled checked, and while DW offers an image placeholder on threads seen via your reading page, there doesn't seem to be one built in for all images. An additional option is to find an add-on which works with your browser that will disable images from displaying altogether.

Double meme post from the same poster. One locked to 18+ (which I think should be the deleted one) and one not.

https://bakerstreet.dreamwidth.org/8365677.html - locked

It looks like the poster noticed it, and removed one already.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-22 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
i'd messaged them myself and they removed it. i guess they missed it. it wasn't age locked, btw. it was comm locked (pedantry demands i correct myself). but thank you :)

the recent tfln meme has a picture of a real person who's been in the news this week for being arrested for sex trafficking, and whose career is based on encouraging sexual assault/slavery of women/manosphere nazi stuff/i'm not putting his name here to keep this out of search engine crawlers, but could we get a different picture? it's a lot of irl bad shit for a silly meme.

I came here to also request a change to the *ndrew *ate tfln pic

Fucking tasteless. OP of that meme should be reprimanded for using such poor judgment.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
ftr search engine crawlers don't operate on dreamwidth any more, that's why you can no longer use google to search for the content of threads or posts

I can message the poster to see if they can switch over to a fandom image rather than a real world one.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-31 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Should this be a rule? I didn’t think it would have to be spelled out because I didn’t think anyone would ever be so tacky as to use a real life rapist and human trafficker as a meme header, but maybe going forward there should be something in the rules about using images of real people.

thank you

to the mods here and the op who changed it when asked. appreciate it!
